Wine of the Week: SledgeHammer Cabernet Sauvignon

Wow… talk about a busy week. Busy, yet I’m not really sure where my time went, except for in the lab! Weeks like this typically call for at least one glass of wine, so I picked up a couple bottles on my way home from work yesterday. One was a white that I hadn’t tried before, and initially a red that was cheap on sale. As I was walking out, not totally satisfied with my choices, I saw a label that jumped out at me, and swapped out my cheap red for it.

This bottle of Sledgehammer Cabernet Sauvignon a big, bold label, and only $3 more so I went for it. (Originally $12.99, on sale for $9.99). I hadn’t had a Cabernet Sauvignon in a while, so it seemed like a good choice! Plus, that’s a pretty catchy name!
It was a soft wine, mildly fruity, not too acidic. It has a bit of a berry taste to it. I got a chuckle when I searched for the official website. This is what you see.
Apparently, Sledgehammer is for ‘men who never whine.’ Leave it to me to pick an ‘unfeminine’ wine. 🙂 Kyle didn’t actually care for this Cabernet Sauvignon much, but he typically is a white wine drinker. I only had a couple small glasses last night (early morning in the lab today!), so I guess I’ve got the rest of the bottle to myself!
At least we paired it with kind of a ‘manly’ dinner dish. It wasn’t steak….but turkey meatloaf qualifies as manly, right?
Well, maybe not so manly when turned into a salad. This is seriously the best meatloaf recipe I think I will ever create!
Alright, time to get this day started! Have a fabulous Friday everyone!
