Last night just felt like a good night to drink wine. Do you ever have those? We do. Semi-frequently. In fact yesterday was the second night this week. Wednesday I had a glass of Mirth, and Kyle opened a bottle that we finished last night.
This was another bottle of Chardonnay by Bogle Vineyards. This particular wine is made in California. I couldn’t quite decide how I felt about this wine. It was not as crisp and fruity as some of my favorites. It was velvety with an oaky flavor to it that wasn’t too heavy. Consensus: I liked it, but not a favorite.
Their site claims that this wine goes well with just about anything. We paired it with some thin cut steaks and roasted potatoes. I prepared half the steaks with a chili lime marinade, and the other half with my own dry rub.
The potatoes were tossed in a swirl of EVOO and a garlic and herb seasoning mix. I then baked them at 425, for 20 minutes, flipping them halfway through.
After catching up on the day, we followed dinner with The Big Bang Theory, Two and a Half Men, and season 4 of The OC. Perfect at home date night. 🙂
Today is a much needed rest day from training. After my run and strength workout yesterday, I went on a 4 mile with with my friend GeeGee, so my legs are feeling it today. Oh, and so are my arms…which I predicted after all those push-ups! I plan to get in some good stretching, because my legs need it, and hopefully an easy walk later. No 14 minute miles like we pumped out on our walk yesterday!
I changed up my normal egg and avocado routine a bit for breakfast today, and made an omelet. I think this is actually the first omelet I have ever made, and it turned out pretty good! I sauteed a little bit of the thin cut steak from last night along with some red pepper, red onion, mushroom, and spinach.
Of course I added a bit of avocado on the side, but the omelet was super filling and I only had about half the avocado I served myself. I’m debating making some avocado ranch dressing for lunch later today!
Time to take the furbeast outside and possibly get in a dog park visit before work. Adios!
