Wine of the Week – Apothic White

When I stopped by the grocery on the way home last night, I had one thing in mind. Wine. It was sad though, because that meant my options were maybe limited, because they don’t usually have many bottles stored in the coolers at the grocery. And I wanted to pop open a bottle of white as soon as I got home. Anyone else ready for the weekend?

To my pleasant surprise, they had a bottle of white that I had been waiting to try every since I discovered it’s partner wine…and very soon Apothic White was opened on my counter.
Apothic White has a very fruity blend. Not quite as citrus like as some of the white’s I’ve liked lately, but more of a peachy taste to it. It is a blend of Chardonnay, Riesling, and Moscato. It had a sweeter taste to it, but it wasn’t over powering. (Unfortunately the links to the Apothic Wines website aren’t working, so I wasn’t able to link anything to the official page.)
Kyle and I both must have liked this wine, because this happened.
I’m not mad about it, either. I didn’t get back from the grocery until after 7:00, and we kept it a particularly lazy evening. All I wanted to do was read and hang out with Kyle while watching the IU basketball game. So that’s what we did! We kept dinner very simple, too.
I can’t remember the last time I had a Lean Pocket. Although I was seriously the queen of these in college. The only thing I knew how to cook was spaghetti, so most of my meals consisted of Lean Pockets (the chicken and artichoke were my absolute favorite), turkey sandwiches, oatmeal, and tuna. Plus copious amounts of Jimmy Johns and Taco Bell.
I paired my Lean Pocket with a spinach, radish, and Feta salad. I think the wine complemented the jalapeno in the Lean Pocket pretty well… haha.
I want to get a run and an upper body workout in later today. I’m beginning to think that in the winter, my running will be pushed back to the early evening, since the high here in Texas is still in the 60s. But for now, I’m going to edit some presentations my students are giving today, so I’ll have to catch you all up on that later!
What’s your wine of the week?
