I’m cheating on my crock-pot this week.

The grill has officially squeezed between me and one of my most beloved kitchen appliances. The warmer weather is just begging us to get outside and grill! Or, I’m begging Kyle to go outside and grill. It’s practically the same thing.

Although we make some killer crock-pot chicken, grilled meat never gets old. We grilled a pork roast last night, and we’re planning on chicken and burgers this week. I might even try grilling some asparagus, too! We have one of those veggie holders for the grill that we’ve never used, and it’s about I become more familiar with it. Especially because I almost called it a vegetable ‘cage.’

We’ve got chicken marinating right now, and we’ll make up some burger patties to cook tomorrow night. We typically try to marinate any meat we grill overnight, or at least for 6 hours. We used to buy bottled marinades, but now Kyle will make them up on the fly. Most of them are variations of these ingredients:

  • Worchestershire sauce
  • Soy sauce
  • Creole
  • Lime juice
  • Lemon juice
  • Mustard
  • Minced garlic
  • Rosemary or other fresh herbs

We really have no idea how much of anything he uses. Sometimes it just takes too much effort to measure ingredients, ya know? The only sad part is when he comes up with something really delicious, and then we can never recreate it. I should video tape Kyle in the kitchen so I know how he comes up with some of this stuff. Because that wouldn’t be creepy.

All this talk about food is making me hungry! Time to make some muffins.
