I have a very special introduction for you today! Everybody, meet Brooklyn Annabelle Ehle, She was born on Friday, 4/29/2016 at 4:40 PM. 8 lbs 4 oz and 19 1/4″ long…and she had a full head of blonde hair! We were surprised by the hair, and how much she weighed. That was actually the first thing I thought when I first saw her…’OMG that’s a big baby!’
I’m not gonna go into too many details about her birth…but I will say that labor and delivery itself was about what I expected. The recovery on the other hand…that has been a whole lot worse. Apparently delivering a baby is pretty traumatic to your body, and recovery mode will last for another week at least. I am feeling better and better every day, but there are a lot of things you never hear about from moms when it comes to recovery! Those are definitely details we don’t need to share here. 🙂
We came home from the hospital on Sunday afternoon, and we have been figuring out our new life ever since. It is a bit challenging, especially breastfeeding (…whoa…), but I have to say it is totally worth it. Yes, you can quote me for stating the obvious. I can admit it now!
I do need to give a HUGE shout out to Kyle. He has been completely amazing not only throughout my pregnancy, but so supportive through labor, delivery, recovery and life at home. He’s incredibly patient with my irrational and emotional moments as a new mom, and I really couldn’t be more lucky to go through this amazing new experience with him!
Oh, and he’s been cooking too. And doing chores. And basically forcing me to sleep because I need it. He makes the best breakfast! (What would a post on Slim Sanity be without at least one picture of food, let’s be honest…)
Speaking of resting, it’s time for me to go! Baby girl is asleep in her Mamaroo (we love that thing, and she does too, most of the time). I’m going to try to catch a quick nap too before the lunch time feedings begin!
For now, I leave you with a fancy iPhone collection of photos we’ve been snapping! We’ll probably have some professional newborn pictures to share soon, once she starts liking to lay on the floor or in other random positions. 🙂 Stay tuned for more updates and some new recipes coming around in the next couple weeks.
Alysia and Brooklyn
The very last bump pic. Brooklyn was induced, so Kyle and I had our last date night just the two of us the night before.
Our first family photo! I was hesitant about sharing any hospital pictures, but I think this one is pretty darn cute.
Already a little model!
First day home…
Brooklyn’s first outing to the pediatrician. We are so blessed that she is in perfect health.
And we went to Target! Obviously we had to introduce her early on.
Yea…cute floor pictures aren’t gonna fly with her just yet.
