This whole work/life balance thing…it can be tricky.
I want to be 100% honest with you. Keeping up with my healthy lifestyle was a lot easier when I wasn’t interested in my job. Avoiding what you’re supposed to be doing all day opens up a lot more time to workout, food prep, make new recipes and any of your other favorite ways to procrastinate.
At a friend’s baby shower last weekend, someone asked me how the blog and working out was going lately. They’re going, but not at the same pace as they were a couple months ago. I’m spending so much more time working – and enjoying it – that what I do with my free time has to be adjusted. I only get a couple of hours before bedtime these days, so after school activities have to be chosen carefully. Blogging is something I love to do, but family will always come first when we can find the time to spend together. I don’t ever want to be a wife who is more interested in her iPhone or online friends. Don’t get me wrong – I love all of you and think you’re amazing. And inspiring! And so many other fabulous superlatives. But the hubs will always come first, and you can’t have stimulating conversation over dinner with a laptop in front of your face.
And my workout schedule? It’s been suffering a little bit, too. There’s this concept of looking presentable in public I haven’t had to deal with before, and it’s kinda getting in the way. I’d say I’ve made about three of my 5 am workouts a week since I started the new job. I’ve been trying to walk a lot (in between monsoons), and get one workout in a weekend. I’m making more of a commitment to workout every day, but right now, this is good enough.
Having a job I love is amazing, but I have to rely on my healthier eating habits and food prep days so I don’t fall into a lazy, junk food-laden coma. I need ready-to-go and easily accessible snacks at all times. But mostly when we get cookies or donuts brought into the office!
Chobani Simply 100 Greek Yogurt has helped lighten up some of my food prep time. These delicious yogurt cups help me maintain a much needed healthy work/life balance. I’ve always loved yogurt, and these are a great option in place of desserts that add an extra dose of protein and fiber, too! These cups help me stay on track and tip the balance for my day in the right direction. We have this fun perk at work where each employee gets rotated weekly to choose a snack to be brought into the office. So far we’ve had snack bars, popcorn, ice cream, sandwiches, juice and pizza rolls. I’m thinking Chobani Simply 100 Greek Yogurt will be the perfect choice when my turn comes around!
Wanna know another bonus to bringing yogurt to work? Less Tupperware to haul with me. And fewer dishes to wash. I swear, we empty a full dishwasher every single day. And three times on food prep day. It’s a bit ridiculous for a household of two people. Anyone else have that problem?
Enough talk about me and my new love affair with my job. Let’s talk about you!
Tell me one exciting thing that happened recently and how you maintain a healthy work/life balance!
