I’ve said before how I need to switch up my workout routines, or I get bored. I can’t do the same moves, run on the treadmill for hours, or follow the same DVDs week after week.
So, how do I remedy that?
I use some different equipment! I’ll go back and forth between the kind of equipment I choose to workout with. I’ll go weeks on end with only using free weights before I move to move machine exercises for strength. Some days I’ll do incline walk for cardio, some days I’ll use the elliptical.
My favorite equipment to use for leg days right now are resistance bands.
There are two different types of resistance bands, ones that are looped and ones that are not. You could easily tie the ones that aren’t to get the looped variety. I only have looped bands, and today I’ll show you some of my favorite resistance bands exercises and a circuit to perform with them for the legs and booty!
Lower Body Circuit With Resistance Bands
1. Lying Outer Leg Lifts – works outer thigh
Lying on your right side, loop the band around your ankles or shoes. Lift your left leg up, until you meet resistance in the band. One lift is one rep. Repeat on each side.
2. Lying Inner Leg Lifts – works inner thigh
Lying or sitting on your right side, bring your left leg in front of your body. Loop the band around your ankles or shoes Lift right leg so that you meet resistance in the band. One lift is one rep. Repeat on each side.
3. Squat with Side Lift – works outer thigh and booty
Standing, loop band around shoes. Start by moving into the squat position. While standing from squat position, lift right leg out until the band meets resistance. Lower back into squat position, and repeat with left leg. Lifting both legs completes one rep.
4. Standing Hip Extension – works booty
Standing, loop band around shoes. Lift right leg backwards, until band meets resistance, and lower. One lift is one rep. Repeat on each side.
5. Jumping Jacks – works legs
Standing, loop band around shoes. Perform jumping jack move, moving your legs out until the band meets resistance. One jumping jack is one rep.
