Hello, friends! How is life going for you lately? Things have been pretty great around here – and pretty busy, too! Today I decided to talk to y’all about it out loud.
We realized last week that we only made it to church on Sunday one day of the month in February. Whoops! We were out of town in Mexico, then had a surprise baby shower for a friend, and we were at another wedding in Indiana the weekend after that.
That wrapped up our travel for the year until November, when we go back to Indiana for another wedding. We seem to be transitioning from the wedding phase to the baby phase in our lives, as fewer friends are popping the question and more are popping out babies. Either way, it’s pretty exciting!
Some other exciting things happening around here? I’ve started applying to new jobs. In marketing. Say wha? Yea – it’s been a long time coming, and I’ve started making some moves. I have officially decided this is the career decision I need to make for myself. Wish me luck! 🙂
The snow days in Dallas have been pretty nice and relaxing, but also encouraged me to not do much of anything except drink coffee and watch Netflix. But to be honest, the hubs and I thoroughly enjoyed that time together! Even though I got a bit behind on my own work with the blog. Monday night I had to edit and write my PB&J muffins, and Tuesday night I tutored from 5:30-9:00 PM, so it took a bit of a toll on our quality time for the week. I’m making more of an effort to get back on track and keep my evenings free! I think it’s important for us to have that time to connect with each other. You’ve gotta make an effort though, or you can get caught up in the hustle and bustle of ANYTHING.
Working out has also been pushed to the evenings most days. I’ve felt like I need to get more sleep lately. I will try to get back into the 5 AM routines soon, but for now, I’m gonna roll with the PM workouts. I am keeping them quicker though – because that whole husband quality time thing I talked about above. I’m still incorporating PiYo workouts into my schedule and LOVING them. The slider workouts are freaking fabulous! Probably some of my favorite, and most effective, workouts in the program.
Besides the snow days wreaking havoc in the traffic scene, they’ve made for a pretty landscape. Or, they did. On my patio. I don’t know why, but I think puppy paw prints in the snow are one of the cutest things ever.
Our pups have been doing well, still getting along. Mia is still kind of a PITA when it comes to potty training. We’ve found out that she really doesn’t like the cold. But she also really loves to sit on her big brother Barkley in any way possible.
I may or may not have enough pictures to fill up an entire album of Mia awkwardly sitting on Barkley. He takes it like a champ, that’s for sure.
There’s not too much happening on the house lately. We are currently in a ‘I don’t wanna paint, I don’t wanna spend money’ phase, which means the only work we can afford right now (because we have paint to use) we don’t wanna do. At least the living room is 100% DONE – it feels good to say that about at least one room of the house!
We’re trickling away little by little at the master bedroom. The wooden paneling you see in the top of the living room is what makes up all our bedroom walls, and we decided to do them white with the skinny piece of trim dark blue. It has not been super fun (ie. a nightmare). We get two week spurts where we are in the mood to work on it, and now we’ve been in about a four week spurt of not wanting anything to do with it. At all. And all our doors in the bedroom have been taken off (I thought this would help speed the process…). So, maybe by this summer it’ll be done. 🙂
What’s the latest book you’ve read? Anything you can recommend? I haven’t been doing much fictional reading, most of what I have been reading is either business or skill building. Or listening to podcasts because that pretty much takes over my life these days. I did finally get to catch two of the books-turned-movie that have been on my list since they came out in theaters!
We both enjoyed them a lot! I have to say, I was a bigger fan of The Mazerunner movie/book comparison than The Hunger Games. But I guess when you take any book and turn it into a movie, you’ve gotta pick and choose what you can film.
So, what else happened in February? Hmm… a lot of cooking and building up my food photography skills! I’m learning more each time I do a shoot. It’s becoming so much fun for me! I love it.
I had planned to do a blog update in this post for you guys, but it’s already getting pretty long, so I think we will save that for another time soon!
