Life has been a WHIRLWIND the last few weeks. It’s only going to get windier as wedding season arrives. A wise person once told me not to plan too many life events at the same time. I guess I could have anticipated how busy I would be wrapping up 4 years of research before May, but I didn’t. Or maybe I did and didn’t care as the engagement ring sparkled in my face.
Alas, hindsight is 20/20, right?
I can’t complain about wedding planning since most of my deadline tasks are passed. Really I don’t want to complain about the wedding at all. It’s been busy nailing down details as we near 53 days until we get hitched, but it hasn’t been terribly stressful. I’ve enjoyed a lot of it! Although – I am just ready for the darn day to be here.
I posted last week about my tips for staying prioritized and organized and make the most of your day. This has really been working GREAT for me. It’s kept my head on my shoulders (most days). There have been a few oddball days, for instance getting my wallet stolen on Monday. NOT fun. Inconvenient, but not the end of the world.
The one thing I’m starting to learn that is getting me through is patience. I’ve never been known to be a patient person, but I am trying. Some things take time and it takes patience to not go crazy.
Patience also lies within our priorities we set. I set my priorities for each day, and have patience knowing I can accomplish the rest of it tomorrow. Can’t stress out about what you doesn’t yet need to be done.
I’m learning patience with others and it’s helping me stay calm. Not everyone is on the same time schedule as you might be…as long as deadlines are met, (technically) it’s all good.
The above includes patience with my puppy when he’d rather smell the grass than poop.
Who’d have known I’d feel so mentally stable in this ridiculous time with a little bit of patience? Not to say I haven’t felt stressed out. I’ve had my moment or two. But patience goes a long way.
As for priorities, my priorities right now are more clear than ever. Work must be done. Deadlines end in a couple weeks, and then extensive job hunting begins. (I have some options through summer but I’d like to expand on that.) Quality time with fiance trumps technology…every time.
I’ve been distant but I’m sure I’ll be back with the blogosphere shortly. Just gotta hang tight!
As I end my thought vomit, I will leave you with a bachelorette selfie. Sort of.
