Last night Kyle and I had date night, with compliments to Groupon. Kyle spotted one last week that we swooped up right away, which was $25 for $50 at Na’an Sushi in Uptown Dallas. I have tried to eat sushi several times, all of which were a major fail on my part. However, the last time I had sushi was 6 months ago, and I started to actually like it. So, I told Kyle I’d give it another go this time around, since I knew there was at least one specific roll that I really liked!
The shrimp tempura roll (second from the left) was a safe bet for me, so I wanted that one. The one I liked second best was the California roll. I can’t remember the names of the other two, but the third roll had cream cheese, avocado, and tuna, and the last one had spicy salmon with avocado. The other two were also pretty good! I think Kyle is happy I’m starting to come around to sushi, because he loves it!
After we got home, we had a glass of wine while watching the IU basketball game on DVR. It was a lovely evening and I even got to bed early around 9:30 PM.
Before I fell asleep last night, it started to storm pretty hard. That resulted in the weather being not so friendly this morning. It was chilly and super windy. Not that it should be anything other than chilly in December… I guess we’ve been spoiled here in Dallas. Anyhow, I definitely did not feel like going outdoors for a run like I had planned. Instead, I grabbed some dumbbells and my Bit timer app, and put together a circuit workout. This one was a doozy for sure!
My shoulders were dying after the second round of mountain climbers, but I kept going to finish out the full set. With my bit timer, I set it to 1 minute of work, with 15 seconds rest in between to catch my breath and grab dumbbells if necessary. The workout itself was 33 minutes. I also had about a 5 minute warm up which consisted of:
- wide arm circles
- high knees
- side lunges
- jumping jacks
At the end of the circuit, I also added in some extra reps for the glutes. I did 20 reps on each leg of the following:
- side lateral raises
- donkey kicks
- fire hydrants
You can find those moves here if you aren’t sure how to do them!
I really wanted to grab the bagel out of the pantry with some peanut butter and a banana for breakfast this morning, but I decided to go a little lighter and cook up some eggs instead. I made a spinach & Feta egg wrap with a half of banana. (I ate the other half before my workout this morning)
It was delish! For now, off to work. I’ll see ya later!
When it’s chillier than expected outside, what do you resort to for a workout?
