talk about spontaneity

Last night I went to meet Kyle at The Nodding Donkey in Uptown (one of my favorite happy hour places, by the way), for what we thought was going to be a couple of drinks and going home around 8:00. I checked out the free buffet they had, and selected a couple goodies as a little pre-dinner.

Before we knew it, it was 7:30, and we were amidst conversations of taking a random trip to Vegas that night. Yea, not happening. After the group realized that Vegas was clearly not going to happen for us, the conversation took a different, much more feasible turn. Let’s go to WinStar Casino! WinsStar Casino, which is in Oklahoma. This was when I started to get scared. Alysia (yes, speaking in third person here) is by definition:

‘a lively, sarcastic individual who knows where to find a good time, generally in the bottom of a bottle of Chardonnay or vodka tonic. while spur of the moment arrangements to incorporate fun into any scenario are common place, extreme spontaneity is generally out-ruled.’

I am a planner. Don’t get me wrong, I live for a good time, and I like to think that in general, I am a pretty good time. (This is not up for dispute.) But I like to have a general idea of what the heck is going on. So, once I got confirming looks from Kyle that this trip to WinStar was actually happening, I went in panic mode. This panic mode has intensified severely upon the addition of a puppy to our responsibilities. And the questions started flowing. “Are we going home first? What do we do with Barkley? If we won’t be back until tomorrow afternoon, who will take care of him? He hasn’t eaten dinner! When are we coming back, anyway? Who is driving? Where are we staying? What am I going to wear? (yes, that is always a valid concern.)”
All of my questions were answered easily, and clearly there was no need to be concerned about this unplanned trip we were taking out of state. After being given the option to back out, I opted not to be a buzzkill for Kyle. So, we packed up Barkley, grabbed an overnight bag with a swimsuit, facewash, and flip flops, dropped puppy dog off at our friends place and we headed back to uptown……to meet the limo that was taking us to WinStar. So, I am going to end the story here with: we had a good time. Here is a small photo montage of the trip.
after panic mode, lets do this mode set in

a limo, seriously? if you insist….

16 hours later….

So, we had a good (interesting) time. Sleeping in this morning was lovely. After my deepfried goodies I had yesterday, I was feeling I needed a healthy meal. The first meal being around 11, I wasn’t sure whether breakfast or lunch sounded good, but I went for a salad with a side of hummus and pita.
Yes, those are chili cheese Fritos in the background that made it home with us from the limo last night. Mrs. Green M&M is also accompanying me on this fine morning.
I think a snack of English muffin, peanut butter and banana is coming very soon.
Today’s agenda consists of settling down with Kyle to watch Fast Five (Paul Walker, Vin Diesel, good movie). We’re going to try and lounge around at the pool for a bit as well. I’m still debating whether today will be an off day, or if I’ll fit a work out in. We’ll see which way the day turns. I was eyeing up some workouts that Lindsay at The Lean Green Bean just posted, and there is one in particular that I am putting on my list to complete today or tomorrow.
This one is looking especially appealing after some weekend shenanigans.
Off to watch a fabulous on demand movie. Hope you have a great day!

Ohhh that sounds fun! Sometimes the best days are unplanned days when random events happen. Cute photos and a limo a perfect night of memories!
