dining table and toning moves

When I came home yesterday, I needed another ‘brain break‘ from my work, so I decided to get a mini work out in and play tug o’ war with Barkley. He just got a new rope toy that he’s really excited about. This is one of my favorite games to play with him, because he goes crazy. I managed to capture three different Barkley’s on camera.
After my arms were tired and I decided to get back to work, I snapped a pic of the Barkley he is best at: the ‘I-look-sad-and-make-you-feel-bad‘ face.
Sorry, pup, Mom’s gotta work! After finished what I needed to get done, Kyle and I went to go pick up our new dining table.
I think we are planning to stain the top of the table so it matches the rest of the furniture, which is all darker. For now, I’m just happy to have a more comfortable place to sit and work! Oh yea, and eat, of course. (TV is still in perfect view, thank goodness…) Right now, however, I don’t think Barkley likes it because he can’t sit in my lap while I blog.
It was after 8:30 when we got everything settled in, so my panko recipes are going to have to wait yet another night. We whipped up some quick salads with black olive, red onion, egg, leftover pork chop, broccoli, and mozzarella cheese on top of iceberg and spinach.
I topped it with a little bit of ranch dressing, Kyle opted for cottage cheese.

I tried out the new hummus I bought. Since I’m still a little new to the hummus world, I haven’t tried many kinds and this roasted garlic sounded good. Which it was!
I got in a good 2 mile run this morning, and came back to do some toning moves from the Drop 10 Diet from Self Magazine. I did one set of the 8 easy toning moves and one set of the sculpting moves. This was the first time I’ve done the sculpting moves. In the sculpting moves set, the exercise that really worked for me was the Cobra Chiseler.

It’s basically a V-push up with a leg lift. The V-push ups can be hard enough on their own, and the leg lift definitely added a good challenge. Another move I liked was Back It Up.

This works two of my favorite places to tone, triceps and booty! I also really like any move where balance is part of the exercise. Next time, I might add a little more challenge to it by using a resistance band around my ankles. My legs were pooped after my run and these exercises! I finished up my workout with some abs and ran to the kitchen.
I went for a veggie scramble this morning, because I knew it would fill me up, and it just sounded good. I sauteed some red onion, red pepper, green pepper, black olive, and spinach. I scrambled that with two whole eggs.
I topped it with some salsa and added a side of turkey bacon. I think there were more veggies in the scramble than actual egg. But I was okay with that.
For now, it’s time to get ready and head to school to prep for a meeting. Happy Friday!
